A Christmas Story:
It's the most wonderful time of the year, some would say! That means Christmas trees, mall Santa's, lights in the park and along the city streets, & most importantly, at least to me, the movies! I won't go on & on about why I love this movie other than it reminds me of my childhood to a point, and I love it the same every time I watch it. From the Old Man & his obscenity-laced furnace fights. To the leg lamp and Chinese turkey thanks to interference from the Bumpus' dogs. Don't shoot your eye out on this Christmas classic!
A Christmas Story 2:
Here's the thing: if this hadn't been labeled as a sequel to A Christmas Story, this movie would have been another typical, cookie cutter Christmas movie. I understand why, but it was completely unnecessary. Had it been done in the 80s, I could see it, but they acted too late. I LOVE Daniel Stern. LOVE HIM. That being said, he is NOT the Old Man. He is the lead character's dad. They could have called him Bob Stevens, named the kids Bobby and Joey. This movie is just fuck awful. I've tried watching with an open mind... TWICE. I just can't. I've always called it, THAT sequel. I don't recommend this movie, but if you dare, make your own opinion and tell me what you think. Next up, Redemption!
A Christmas Story Christmas:
This movie was everything I had hoped for and more. I had my reservations when it was announced, but when they said Peter Billingsley and the rest of the surviving actors from the original, save for an aging Melinda Dillon, will be in it, I was immediately sold. I laughed, I cried, I had a warm, fuzzy nostalgic feeling throughout. If you love the original, you'll love this one. There's a scene where Ralph teaches his kids to make snowballs, and it's one of the funniest scenes in movie history. The ending was the perfect send off for people who loved the original movie and wondered what happened after Ralph grew up. The tribute to the Old Man was the cap on the pen so to speak. You are doing yourself a major disservice if you don't see this movie. DON'T LET HIM KICK YOU IN THE FACE!!!
