OK. I get it. Everyone is riding the Mia Goth train these days. That does not, however, excuse the making of bad movies, and in my opinion, she strikes out every time. I know everyone's a critic these days, but that's because of the power of social media, it can make or break you and has replaced skill with fandom. As long as people talk about someone, they become a sensation. I have never judged by acting, it goes far beyond that into the realm of movies that are a one-time watch at best, and softcore porn at its worst. I mean, the girl fucked a scarecrow once, that's what we call art today.
I decided to sit down and watch Infinity Pool, not really knowing what to expect, and my pre-judgment proved me right again. What I sat through was a two-hour psychedelic trip with hand jobs and apparently some dead people or something. I don't even really know what was going on, they sniffed some smoke, tripped balls, and to be honest, that was maybe the most memorable part. The movie is set on a compound-type hotel with armed guards. I won't go into much more detail as to spoil it but it's another flop where nothing happens to make it horror, they just put all their effort into the mood. I am personally tired of watching movies that do not prove their worth until the last five minutes.
The characters were nothing I could relate to or even cheer on, they were all kind of trash, and I also hate that in movies. I honestly didn't care what happened to any of these people. Apart from the psych trips that look like a weird Rob Zombie video, there was really nothing going on. I know what people will say "You have to use your brain to piece it together." Well like Forrest Gump, I'm not really a smart man, I like a simple plot at least, and nothing here interested me, from the plot to the weird constant sexual innuendos, nothing stood out as memorable. With all the movies coming out recently, I would put this in the bottom tier. That's really all I have to say about it. It's good for a single watch if you wanna waste some time, but don't expect to be blown away.
