The Mean One... A Spoiled Movie Ahead

I have waited for this movie for months now and I finally got the chance to see it! I am also, still kind of torn on it. I feel for the age-old trap and I think, I expected too much of this movie. I can't say I didn't enjoy it, but I also can't quite say I did. The hype of this movie really fooled a lot of people. I expected campy fun all throughout but I feel at times they took things a little too seriously. I wish I could dissect it further but I am trying not to spoil anything. That's honestly hard to do because the story is not very complex.

The story starts off interesting. There is also a bit of comedy to open with. However, the good feeling kind of expires in time. Though the story keeps you interested, there were little snippets that annoyed me especially CGI blood. That's all I can really say without spoiling anything. Cindy moves back to "Newville", "The Mean One" comes hacking and slashing, especially on a bar full of Santas, my favorite scene. That's kind of.. the movie. It's very straight forward as a slasher. I just didn't expect it to take itself so seriously. Don't get me wrong. the comedy in the movie nailed it, but it's very story driven, and that can kind of get old when the story is simple.

In the end, I am still torn. I know where they were going, but unfortunately, nothing really stood out as memorable. Everyone played their part great, especially our new master of a thousand faces, David Howard Thornton. What I want in the end is to have this man SPEAK, the silence didn't really do it for me, if there was one thing that was missing it was The Mean Ones voice, there was so much potential there. I have heard David speak in Nightwing fan films as The Joker and his dedication to throwing his voice into a character should not be overlooked. All this fucking thing did was growl, and that hurt. I would definitely suggest anyone see it because it is, enjoyable, yet full of simple flaws.
