There's not many movies that make me this excited. From start to finish, it's pure beauty. I wasn't going to give Violent Night a chance at first, it sounded typical. Let me say this, it was NOT your typical Christmas action movie. The preview had me intrigued, and the movie has quickly become my number two favorite Christmas movie (nothing will live up to Santa Claus The Movie from 1985). I honestly, had so much fun watching this movie. And I'm rambling so let's get down to business!
I even love the premise of this movie. Santa kicking bad people's asses in gory ways? A whole new way to look at the jolly old man? Maybe Santa really does get tired of our shit. Maybe that's why Christmas doesn't feel the same as an adult. We let the magic of imagination die. Sometimes we even tell our kids the truth from an early age to avoid the idea of Santa. I couldn't imagine doing that to my kids, they are older, they don't believe so much, but as I said in another post, the big man lives in our hearts, we just lock our childhood away after a while. This movie addresses that and more.
So what happens when Santa has to fight? Well, he loses the fight until the magic of Christmas comes back. Then it's a goddamn slaughter! There, that shouldn't spoil anything! In the end, I can sum it up like this. Bad guys take rich people hostage, and Santa gets stuck at the house, then he starts taking names. Doesn't it sound fun?! Believe me, it was, and there is still that Christmas magic all throughout. The acting? Superb, I mean it was released by Universal, it wasn't like some of these other fucked holiday horror I have seen this year. Some I can't even remember because there was no interest. Trust me... We haven't had something this good since Santa's Slay. What are you waiting for?! Go see it!
